Here's two new kids' T-shirts I've created for London Transport Museum. One is a Piccadilly line 1973-stock train, the other shows the evolution of the London bus: the B-type, Routemaster and New Routemaster.

It's cold and grey out there – put a bit of colour in your cheeks.

It's interesting to see how companies use accents differently. Here a '30s sign from London Transport uses a circumflex over the 'o' which is not something you see any more. The sign above from British Railways doesn't use one ... different strokes for different folks.
On our recent visit to Château de Chillon and the Bernisches Historisches Museum in Switzerland, we enjoyed the decorative and heraldic uses of the chevron/fischgrätmuster/herringbone device. Once you tune your eye in, you can see it everywhere ... doors, shutters, crests, French manhole covers and British diesel shunting locomotives.
Pictured is 'The river that flows both ways', an installation by Spencer Finch on the High Line, New York. Finch photographed the Hudson River every minute on a 700 minute tugboat journey. The 700 panes of glass represent one pixel from each photo taken. As light conditions change, the panes seem to shift colour like the water. We noticed how similar the first photo is to the colour palette on our blog logo and wondered whether Mike was unconsciously influenced by it ...

Continuing our very loose theme of blokes with glasses this week, here's a great window graphic we snapped at the National Railway Museum in York.
The headline reads: 'Inter-City makes the going easy', which would also make great copy for a laxative.
(For all you train enthusiasts, the train is a British Rail Inter-City Mark II).
When visiting the Vatican Museum, warm up with the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel before admiring the wonderful variety of Papal transport in the Carriage Pavilion. (No, we didn't know he had a plane either).
It might look like Mike coordinates his watches with train liveries, but it isn't true.
