Chevrons

On our recent visit to Château de Chillon and the Bernisches Historisches Museum in Switzerland, we enjoyed the decorative and heraldic uses of the chevron/fischgrätmuster/herringbone device. Once you tune your eye in, you can see it everywhere ... doors, shutters, crests, French manhole covers and British diesel shunting locomotives.
